Vishy Anand retained the World Chess Championship after an excruciatingly tense Rapid Chess tie break was decided in favour of the Indian 2.5-1.5. Anand wins $1.53 million and will defend again next year against the winner of the Candidates tournament, to be held in London next March. Gelfand took home $1.02 million.
