The World Team Championship is a very strong event, starting this Sunday in Ningbo, China. Like the Olympiad, 5-man teams do battle on 4 boards per round (each team gets an alternate); unlike the Olympiad, only a few teams get to participate. As Chessdom already hinted earlier, India nominates Chennai to host the Anand - Gelfand World Championship match. Chennai is planning to invest 200 million rupees (approximately $ 4.5 million) in the match. It should be noted that by now FIDE has already received a bid from the Russian Chess Federation.

Christopher Nakamura is out of the WSOP. Piano worked out pretty well for Mark Taimanov after his famous disaster in 1971 (before it too), so who knows, maybe chess will turn out alright for Nakamura.
