The aim of the tournaments was to commemorate György Marx, professor of physics, organize a top level tournament for the Hungarian chess friends, and provide an opportunity for the most talented young local Grandmasters to acquire experience.

Live games with analysis from the AAI Chess tournament start at 10:30 CET. Participants are Laznicka, Sasikiran, Wesley So, Caruana, Yifan Hou, and Negi.

The first prize in Albena is the impressive 8000 EUR, but what is even better for the chess enthusiasts, there are 30 prizes ranging from 1000 to 100 EUR for amateur chess players, and 16 prizes ranging from 500 to 100 EUR for youngsters. Exactly such prize distribution is very typical for the Super Opens and beneficial to the whole chess community.

All players born in 1993 or younger have the right to participate. The tournament will be played by a 9-round Swiss System. Laznicka was happy to have broken the horrible run in the second half of the tournament. “In the first half of the tournament I was doing fine, but suddenly in the second half things went wrong. I lost two in a row, so this win was good,” said Laznicka. “A good finish will be nice and I hope I can do well in the future events in India.”

The best watched and sought after game of the championship was played between top seed GM Nigel Short and Championship leader GM Jones Gawain which finally ended in a draw. On other tables IM D Harika crushed South African IM Watu Kobese while GM Rajaram Laxman and IM Sahaj Grover came out victorious against their opponents and joined Gawain in the battle for the Championship.

India is organizing AAI International Chess Tournament, a category 17 event, from 21st June to 2nd July 2011 in New Delhi. The tournament format is six-player double round robin.
