The 2011 U.S. Chess Championship and 2011 U.S. Women's Championship are taking place April 13-28 at the Chess Club and Scholastic Center of Saint Louis (CCSCSL). Daily live games with computer analysis are available on the Chessbomb platform.

The 4th Memorial Pedro Lezcano Montalvo took place from 18th to 24th April in Gran Canaria, Spain. The 9-round open was organized by the Club de Ajedrez Caja Insular de Ahorros de Canarias. 109 players competed in the tournament, and among them were five Grandmasters.

Memorial Branko Vukmanovic was played from 16th to 24th April in Tivat, Montenegro. The 9-round Swiss open had 58 participants and is valid for the Balkan Grand Prix rankings. GM Branko Damljanovic and GM Zvonko Stanojoski shared the first place with 7.0 points each, but Damljanovic took the winner's trophy on better tie-break score.

Krush will need to win as White tomorrow to extend her match into Monday's tiebreak. She has only defeated Zatonskih once in her career, but that victory came earlier in the Championship. For Zatonskih, yesterday's win was her fifth consecutive in the tournament. She got a decisive advantage early that she used to pick off Krush's a-pawn.
