Caruana, Rublevsky, Ivanchuk, Vitiugov, Savchenko, Movsesian, Nepomniachtchi, Tomashevsky, Anish Giri, Ponomariov, Motylev, and many others live from one of the strongest chess leagues - the Russian Team Chess Championship.

A record number of 170 players from 33 countries are participating in this prestigious tournament. The largest group, 42, is hailing from India, followed with 10 from Armenia and Iran. Grandmaster Sasikiran Krishnan rated 2682 is the top seed of this championship.

Armenia will make chess a compulsory subject at primary schools. "Teaching chess in schools will create a solid basis for the country to become a chess superpower," Arman Ayvazyan, an official at Armenian Education Ministry told AFP.
