It was the biggest game of the 2011 Wijk aan Zee tournament so far, and Magnus Carlsen came through, defeating pre-round leader Hikaru Nakamura to close to within half a point of Nakamura and Viswanathan Anand. Carlsen was White in what was an English Attack-like Najdorf, and in the battle of attacks on opposite wings the Norwegian's came in first.
